About Weidong Lu
Weidong Lu received his medical degree from Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China in 1983 and Master of Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health in 2002 and received his PhD in Integrative Medicine from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in 2009. He is Professor in Chinese Medicine and the past chairman of the Department of Chinese Herbal Medicine in The New England School of Acupuncture, Massachusetts. He joined Leonard P. Zakim Center for Integrated Therapies as the lead acupuncturist in Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in 2000. He is a member of American Society of Clinical Oncology and Society for Integrative Oncology. He was a Research Fellow in medicine at Osher Research Center, Harvard Medical School. Currently he is an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is conducting research that focuses on high quality clinical trials in the area of integrative oncology, such as effects of acupuncture on chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. He was the co-Principle Investigator of a NIH sponsored clinical trial that evaluates effects of acupuncture for chemotherapy-induced neutropenia in ovarian cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and currently he is the Principle Investigator of another NIH sponsored clinical trial that evaluates effects of acupuncture for chem-radiation induced swallow difficultly in head and neck cancer patients. He has published many research articles in acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
